FULL DESCRIPTION

The extraordinary story of Louisiana native, Catholic priest, and US Army Air Forces chaplain Father Joseph Verbis Lafleur is among the most unforgettable of World War II. From ministering to the wounded during the bombing of Clark Field in the Philippines to guiding fellow prisoners of war in faith and hope under brutal captivity, Lafleur’s selfless devotion and spiritual leadership set him apart as a true servant-soldier—and a saint on the battlefield. Join Rebecca Poole and Stephen Bateman of The National WWII Museum’s Jenny Craig Institute for the Study of War and Democracy as they recount Lafleur’s powerful military service and enduring legacy of courage, compassion, and sacrifice. Father Michael Richard of the Diocese of Lafayette will also be on hand to share insights into the effort to canonize Father Lafleur and the ongoing campaign to award him the Medal of Honor.

Dinner with a Curator is an evening of dinner and history hosted by The American Sector Restaurant & Bar culinary team and Museum professionals. Guests participate in discussion on a featured topic related to World War II, which is interpreted through the Museum's collection and a theme-inspired three-course dinner paired with beverage specials. Ticket sales end 48 hours prior to the start of the event.
