8:00pm

FULL DESCRIPTION

The UVA McIntire Department of Music presents a recital of the complete unaccompanied cello suites of J. S. Bach. These six suites are staples of the cello repertoire, and represent a wealth of varied depth and expression in compact form. They will be performed by nine cello students from the studio of Adam Carter at the University of Virginia.

This free recital takes place at 8pm on Monday, November 12th in the UVA Chapel. Cellists Megan Berntsen, Adam Cooper, Brent Davis, Sarah Garretson, John Kanu, Nicholas Rupert, Daniel Song, Isabella Tucker, and Josef Zimmerman will be performing.

The UVA Chapel is located on McCormick Road adjacent to the Rotunda and across the street from Alderman Library. (map) Parking is available in the central grounds parking garage on Emmet Street, and along the streets by the Chapel. The Chapel is accessible to all and handicap parking is available directly across the street.

About University Chapel

The cornerstone of the non-denominational University Chapel was laid in 1885, and the final structure was dedicated in 1889. Though the church no longer holds regular religious services, it serves as a venue for weddings, memorials, and campus and community events near the heart of Grounds.
