FULL DESCRIPTION

This class is for UVA students who want instruction and wheel time. As a six week class students will learn the basics of throwing, trimming, and glazing. Students with wheel experience may work at their own pace on class or independent projects.This class comes with Open Studio access seven days a week. Students may elect to repeat this class. 

Tools are provided. Clay must be purchased, small quantities and recycled clay are available. The clay prices include all the firings and the use of our glazes.

Dates: September 2-October 16 (no class October 7)

Time: Sundays 2:00-4:30

Class runs for 6 weeks.

Students attending classes at City Clay have the option of coming into the Studio 7 days a week during Open Studio hours. The hours can fluctuate, so please call City Clay to check the schedule beforehand.

About City Clay


City Clay is clay studio centered on the creative process and a community of makers. Our offerings have inspired people from 5 to 95 and include classes and summer camps for children and teens, adults classes for wheel-throwing, hand-building, sculpture, surface design, and glaze making. Adult classes come with Open Studio time during business and class hours. Gallery exhibits include artist talks during the first or second Friday openings. The sale of locally made pottery and sculpture is on going I both the main studio and the members studio. Memberships are available for experienced adult potters and sculptors. Memberships range from a series of shelving rentals to small studios, or larger studios where they have their own equipment. Workshops by our teachers and guest potters are offered periodically as well as workshops for corporate team building, teachers, school groups, and social clubs. City Clay is a great place for a birthday parties, bachelorette parties, and winter date nights. There is a shop for supplies including ten different clays, tools and commercial glazes. Gift cards are available and Visitors are welcome during business hours.
