Newcomb Hall Ballroom

Thu, Nov 4, 2021
5:00pm - 6:00pm

Novelist and Kapnick Foundation Distinguished Writer-in-Residence Rabih Alameddine lectures on "Concerning the Politics in Art"
FULL DESCRIPTION

Novelist and Kapnick Foundation Distinguished Writer-in-Residence Rabih Alameddine lectures on "Concerning the Politics in Art." National Book Award and the National Book Critics’ Circle Award finalist for An Unnecessary Woman, Rabih Alameddine's new novel, The Wrong End of the Telescope, is about an Arab American trans woman’s journey among Syrian refugees on Lesbos island. Alameddine comes to UVA as a Kapnick Foundation Distinguished Writer-in-Residence, a residency in the tradition of William Faulkner’s legendary time at the University of Virginia in 1957 and 1958.

Under UVA's current Covid policies, all audience members will need to bring and wear a mask during this event.
