Atlanta Freedom Bands celebrates its 30th anniversary with an epic trip to the final frontier! We are heading "Out of this World" with music inspired by space and science fiction. The concert blasts off with music from Star Trek, Star Wars, and Doctor Who, paired with pieces that evoke the mystery and beauty of what we will find as we explore the great beyond.

The concert includes two premieres. AFB commissioned a new work from conductor and composer Dr. Erika Svanoe of Augsburg University in Minneapolis. "Where no one has gone before" is her tribute to her love of science fiction. Dr. Svanoe will conduct the band in the premiere. Our Student Composer Residency Program will welcome Gwenyth Lark from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire for the premiere of their work "Through the Asteroid Belt".

The celebration begins before the concert with a presentation from Dr. Jody Noll, a professor of history at Georgia State University. His students have spent the semester preparing a project on AFB's three decades of music and service to the community. Dr. Noll will present a video and talk before the show to help us celebrate this milestone.
